When do you need a dental implant?
Â
A dental implant can be the right solution if you have lost one or more teeth and want a permanent, functional and aesthetic replacement. Dental implants are suitable when you want a permanent solution that does not require neighbouring teeth to be ground down, as is the case with dental bridges. Implants also help prevent jaw bone loss that can occur after tooth loss.
Dental implants may be necessary if:
- You are missing one or more teeth and want a fixed solution
- You want to avoid removable dentures
- You want to prevent bone loss in the jaw
- You want a natural-looking result that feels like your own teeth
How does dental implant treatment work at ValbyTand?
Pre-examination: We start with a thorough examination of your mouth and jaw. We take X-rays or 3D images to assess bone volume and ensure you are a suitable candidate for implants.
Implantation: The implant itself, a small titanium screw, is inserted into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Titanium is biocompatible and integrates naturally with the bone over time, creating a strong and stable base.
Healing period: The implant needs time to heal and integrate into the jawbone. This process can take between 3 and 6 months, depending on individual patient conditions. During this period, you can get a temporary crown.
Crown attachment: Once the implant has healed, a customised crown, bridge or denture is attached to the implant. The crown is made to match your natural teeth, both in shape and colour, for an aesthetic result.
Follow-up and care: We follow up on how the implant is working and give you guidance on how to best care for your new dental implant.
Benefits of dental implants at ValbyTand
Dental implants are the best solution for those who want a fixed and long-term replacement of lost teeth. The implants feel and function like natural teeth and help maintain jawbone health, preventing bone loss and maintaining facial structure. With a dental implant, you get a strong, durable and aesthetically pleasing result that can last a lifetime when cared for properly.
Advantages of dental implants:
- Stable and permanent solution: Dental implants are firmly anchored in the jaw and function like your own teeth.
- Natural-looking: Implant crowns look natural and blend in perfectly with your other teeth.
- Bone loss prevention: Implants help preserve jawbone and prevent bone loss that can occur after tooth loss.
No impact on neighbouring teeth: - Unlike dental bridges, implants do not affect neighbouring teeth as they stand independently.
Types of dental implants we offer
At ValbyTand, we offer different types of dental implants depending on your needs:
- Single tooth implant: Used to replace a single lost tooth.
- Bridge supported by implants: Used when multiple teeth are missing and a bridge is attached to implants instead of natural teeth.
- Full jaws: If all teeth are missing, we can replace them with a full bridge attached to 4-6 implants.
